Imagine a person swimming at a local beach or pool. We see them begin to struggle. They wave their arm in our direction as if to attract our attention. We are uncertain as to what we should do. We know that they are in trouble but we appear paralysed, unable to act. Where is the lifesaver?

Reflection

A Prayer for Hope
How can such evil exist in a human heart
which beats to the same rhythm as our own?
Is there a small flame of hate in us all?
Are we doomed to live in a world
where this flickering potential is forever fanned
into the bushfire of terrorism, torture, rape, and murder?
